The Concert Band is directed by Tony Lewis who is the School’s Brass tutor. The Band has recently gained in strength with a membership of 25. The ensemble is well-balanced and incorporates flutes, clarinets, saxophones, a wide range of brass instruments including Tuba, bass guitar, and drum kit. The Band’s most recent performance was at the annual Gala Concert in July.
This is a small dance band which was formed over 20 years ago. The band regularly performs at social events at the College and further afield. Last year the band was invited to perform in Chester Town Hall for the Lord Mayor’s ‘At Home’ for 200 local dignitaries and business people from the County.
The College also has other small music ensembles e.g. the barbershop group ‘The Saightonians’. Most recently a new choral group has been formed called ‘The 8eight’ which specialises in early music.
The Chapel Choir led Evensong at the Abbey to over 600 visitors every evening.
