Ethos and Philosophy of Junior and Infant Department:

The ethos and atmosphere at Aldford underpin the agreed aims of the school. Teachers provide a broad and balanced curriculum, developing the skills, concepts and knowledge necessary for future learning. Our child-centred approach is the basis of the focus while pupils are at school. Each child is viewed as an individual, and we aim to nurture and develop their skills and abilities, academically, in the fields of sport, music, drama, art, technology or wherever. In the course of their daily work, the staff contribute to the development of this ethos and philosophy through:

  • Providing a calm, quiet and effective working environment at all times, in which each child can achieve their maximum potential.
  • Providing a welcoming environment, in which courtesy, kindness and respect are fostered.
  • Providing positive role models.
  • Providing a fair and disciplined environment.
  • Developing links with the wider community.
  • Providing children with meaningful, purposeful tasks, related to the National Curriculum programmes of study, the Primary Literacy and Numeracy Strategies and EYFS Desirable Learning Outcomes.
  • Valuing and celebrating pupils’ success and achievements.
