ISA North West Athletics Competition

On Wednesday 10th June, 40 of our pupils aged from 7-11 years old, competed in a range of different athletic events against Independent schools from our region. Events such as sprints of differing distances, high jump, long jump, shot and tug of war had Aldford representatives competing.

Our team performed very well and all the children enjoyed the experience of competing in front of a big crowd! Louis Dearling won his 60m sprint race and qualified for the final as did Theo Coulter. Both boys were part of qualifying relay teams too. Leo Karavasili came 3rd in the U10 long jump and Charlie Stratton came 5th in throwing the cricket ball.
Our older children did well too - Anna Holden came 3rd in the U11 high jump as well as qualifying for her sprint final and being part of a qualifying relay team! Sophie Bell came 3rd in the long jump and also qualified for her sprint and relay final.

We send our congratulations to pupils who will be representing our region in the following events: Danielle Macready in shot and high jump, Amy Williams in the long jump and sprint, Jack Allwood in the U11 high jump and our U12 girls relay team - Nia and Beth Jones, Charlotte Williamson and Amy Williams; their 4th consecutive qualification! The U12 girls won a trophy for being the most successful team on the day and our mighty tug of war J5/6 team won a shield for seeing off ALL competition!

We are so proud of all our pupils; their conduct was exemplary on the day as was their sporting attitude. Despite being one of the smaller schools taking part, our presence was noticeable and our achievements, excellent.
