The College team tried their best to prevent the Altrincham team getting into their stride but unfortunately The College team found their opponents too difficult to contain, eventually losing all 6 matches. The College’s second game was against The Grange School, who were also very strong. The introduction of Daniel Parker to the team proved to be a great success in this match. Although the College team lost overall against The Grange, Daniel Parker had an epic match; his match was tied at 6 games all and went to a tie break, which he narrowly lost. Daniel’s addition to the team had a positive impact as it enabled James Faulkner, Billy Reeves and Eddie Speed to regain confidence in themselves and the team.\n</p>\n<p>\nThe College had 3 games left in their league and believed they could get a victory, which they duly did. The College disposed of Hartford High in their 3rd match and performed very well. Daniel Parker had another great match and within the doubles pairing of James Faulkner and Billy Reeves, produced some exciting tennis. Eddie Speed and Daniel Parker were consistent at all times and after the final result; the College team began to believe in their ability.\n</p>\n<p>\nThe final two matches against North Cestrian and Marple Hall were very entertaining. The match against North Cestrian was very tight. Eddie Speed’s match lasted almost an hour, eventually winning 6-4! The College team were victorious with a final score line of 8-4 in matches. Marple Hall provided an interesting fixture. Abbey Gate College wanted to win this match which would place them 3rd in the league overall. After a nervy start, the team got into their stride and won the match convincingly with a score line of12-0; each player and pairings hit top form and they deserved their final placing in the league. \n</p>\n<p>\nThroughout all matches the College team were impeccable in their behaviour and attitude and I look forward to another round of fixtures next year.\n</p>\n<p>\nWell done to Daniel Parker, Eddie Speed, Billy Reeves, James Faulkner and Connor McGovern-Scott.\n</p>\n<p>\nMr Barton\n</p>\n', created = 1328513026, expire = 1328599426, headers = '' WHERE cid = '3:188416c1f8629b7ca42cd41220a5db18' in /home/public_html/sd1dev.co.uk/public/abbeygate/includes/database.mysql.inc on line 172.

The AEGON Tennis Championships 2010

The year 8 tennis team started this year’s campaign against a very strong Altrincham Grammar School, who had 2 highly ranked British players amongst their disposal. The College team tried their best to prevent the Altrincham team getting into their stride but unfortunately The College team found their opponents too difficult to contain, eventually losing all 6 matches.
