Currently we have two interactive whiteboard.\n</p>\n<p>\nThe ability to communicate confidently is a life skill that is vitally important in today’s highly competitive employment market. In a world where travel and international communications play an increasing role in our working life and leisure activities, speaking a foreign language should be regarded as an indispensable life skill. The experience of learning a language at a young age provides a sound base from which to tackle other languages at a later date if required.\n</p>\n<p>\nKey Stage 3: As of last year all pupils follow a 10 week course in Spanish, French and German during Year 7 and they choose to continue two of these languages during Years 8 and 9. Emphasis is placed on communication skills.\n</p>\n<p>\nKey Stage 4: French German and Spanish are offered to GCSE; pupils have to take a language to GCSE. We use the AQA exam board and pupils are examined in listening, reading, writing and oral skills. When appropriate, coursework is done as a substitute for the written exam.\n</p>\n<p>\nSixth Form: French, German and Spanish are offered to AS and A2 Level. Currently a group of Sixth Form students are learning Spanish as beginners on a course, supplementary to their A Level French and German studies.\n</p>\n<h3>Visits and excursions</h3>\n<p>\nIn recent years pupils from Year 9 have enjoyed a residential trip to Normandy France. Pupils from Years 9-11 have experienced life in a German family on a home stay programme based in Bonn. Sixth Form students have taken part in exchange programmes, language courses and work experience abroad.
