Link Teacher: Mr C Cutler
After graduating from Liverpool University in 1991 with a combined honours degree in Psychology and Sociology Colin taught Psychology in a number of schools and colleges in North Wales before joining a video-conferencing educational organisation in 1998. He now manages the nationwide Psychology Team whilst continuing to tutor his own groups.
This unique form of study is an excellent experience to assess a student’s ability to manage their own time. Lessons are delivered via Video Conferencing for one hour a week with an external tutor. The distance learning file gives an excellent and comprehensive direction to students in preparation for their examinations.
They provide a weekly feedback sheet on pupils as well as providing school reports on request, offering on line support at parents evenings and producing UCAS references. Tutors will also visit school twice a year; just after half term and once just before Easter. All statistics including GCSE results and any other information relevant to aid their teaching are forwarded to the tutor. Student quality and ability to adapt to self support learning is assessed.
The role of the teacher within the school establishment is to make sure all students are working at the correct level and to introduce the students to the technical requirements of “dialling up”. Close liaison with the external tutor allows for students to be monitored within supervised study periods and delivering assignments on time.
The benefit from learning key skills vital for success when they enter university life after A levels cannot be underestimated. The ability to manage their time and have the flexibility to complete the unit of work, benefits many students.
It gives a unique understanding of why people behave in a certain way and what causes human behaviour addressing issues such as:
Course work, includes regular assignments which are sent to the tutor via the Link Teacher. These assignments are marked and returned via your Link Teacher with detailed feedback and grades.
